Masturbation, especially for women, is a bit of a taboo subject. Which is why we were ecstatic to receive some pretty encouraging facts and figures about the country's self-loving habits Yup, thanks to the clever folks at Bondara , we now have a pretty good idea of what turns us on when we're flying solo - not to mention how long it takes the average person to ahem finish up. Female orgasms: What you need to know
The Gender Orgasm Gap | FiveThirtyEight
Alfred Kinsey and his colleagues held private interviews with over 10, people. His team classified people according to sex, age and education level. They then produced tables to see if there were any correlations between sexual activity and personal characteristics. Kinsey used the frequency of orgasm responsiveness as a measure of sexuality. The reports were co-authored by four men. There has been no research since that has come anywhere close to the detail and thoroughness of his work. The five-year gap was due to the controversy over his conclusions on female sexuality.
Menopause, Female Hormones, and Sexuality
Sex appears in my inbox at least once a month. The topline findings show that men are more likely to orgasm than women — 91 percent of men said they climaxed during their last sexual encounter, compared with 64 percent of women. But there seems to be a perception gap, too — at least among men. Eighty-five percent of men said their partners in that recent sexual encounter had reached climax, far higher than the percentage of women who said they orgasmed. Most of these sexual encounters were heterosexual — 92 percent of men and 98 percent of women said their last sexual encounter was with someone of the opposite sex.
Unlike some animals, human females can have sex any time of the month, and they do not have to orgasm to ovulate or get pregnant. Male-dominated scientific norms mean that much about the female orgasm remains misunderstood, and many harmful myths persist. A female orgasm can be highly pleasurable and occur during masturbation or sexual activity with one or more partners.
